Job description
About the role
Capital.com is looking for a Group Transaction Monitoring Analyst (L3) who plays a key part in detecting, investigating and reporting financial crime across its global entities. The role sits in the Alert Operations pillar of the Group TM function, reports to the Group Head of Transaction Monitoring and handles complex end-to-end investigations, from escalated alert review through to SAR/STR preparation, entity MLRO liaison and cross-jurisdictional pattern analysis. The L3 analyst works with a high degree of autonomy.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate escalated alerts: full transaction history, source of funds and wealth analysis, beneficial ownership checks, open-source intelligence and cross-entity pattern analysis.
- Write high-quality SAR/STR narratives and evidence packs for entity MLRO review and regulatory filing, within regulatory timeframes.
- Make independent disposition decisions on the most complex alerts, with documented rationale; high-risk dispositions are subject to QC sampling and senior review.
- Run background checks on counterparties and entities using public and subscription databases.
- Maintain audit trails in the case management system.
- Liaise with entity MLROs on SAR filings and with external counsel and regulators where required, under the direction of the Head of TM.
- Mentor L1 and L2 analysts and support thematic reviews of client segments, typologies or products.
- Suggest process improvements and control enhancements.
Required profile
- At least four years in financial crime investigation, transaction monitoring or AML/CTF compliance, with at least two years of complex investigations and SAR/SMR/STR drafting.
- Experience with CFD brokers, forex brokers, investment firms or fintech platforms offering leveraged trading products.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Business or a related field.
- Desirable: ICA AML certificate, CAMS or equivalent.
Required skills
- Strong analytical and investigative mindset, able to interpret complex transactional datasets.
- Excellent drafting and case-writing skills.
- Sound understanding of AML/CTF regulations, ML/TF typologies and red flags such as deposit-withdrawal cycling, structuring, trade-based laundering and deliberate loss.
- Ability to make independent decisions on complex cases and to spot genuine suspicious activity from explainable client behaviour.
What we offer
- Competitive salary.
- Annual leave, employee referral programme and volunteer days.
- Health and pension benefits, plus location-specific perks.
- 30 extra days to work remotely from anywhere in the world (some restrictions apply).
