Senior Software Developer

About the role

OneOcean is looking for a Senior Software Developer to design and deliver high‑performance maritime software. You will work on mission‑critical applications that support safer, more efficient maritime operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test, debug and document applications using .NET, Python, cloud and related technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineering peers to define, design and ship new features.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements for existing systems and troubleshoot end‑user issues.
• Continuously improve the codebase, fix bugs, optimise performance and participate in code reviews.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and develop unit and functional tests.

Required profile

• 7+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong communication, teamwork and analytical skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality and reliability.

Required skills

• .NET Framework/Core and object‑oriented programming.
• Python development.
• Test‑Driven Development, unit, integration and acceptance testing.
• Microservices, distributed architecture, event buses and message queues.
• Client‑server architecture, asynchronous programming, ORMs, REST/GraphQL and application logging.
• SQL/NoSQL databases (MsSQL, MongoDB).
• Docker and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Front‑end technologies (React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery) – desirable.
• CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins and modern DevOps practices – desirable.
