Cloud Operations & Observability Engineer

About the role

Skywise, the digital services arm of Airbus, is expanding its cloud platform and needs a visionary Cloud Operations & Observability Engineer. You will lead the design and execution of a next‑generation monitoring, observability and alerting strategy for a portfolio that spans planning, flight, technical and ground operations.

Key responsibilities

• Audit existing telemetry, monitoring tools and operational workflows across legacy and new solutions.
• Define a unified, scalable roadmap for monitoring, observability and proactive alerting.
• Implement cost‑optimisation practices and rationalise toolsets.
• Integrate AI/ML (AIOps) for predictive alerting, automated incident response and anomaly detection.
• Drive migration and consolidation of observability tools into a single control‑room platform.
• Promote modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methods across teams.
• Shadow external consultants to acquire architectural knowledge and assume full ownership of the observability platform.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience designing and operating observability and monitoring ecosystems in cloud environments.
• Proven ability to assess complex technical landscapes and identify synergies and gaps.
• Strong understanding of cost‑optimisation and best‑practice cloud operations.
• Experience introducing AI/ML driven operations (AIOps) into production systems.
• Familiarity with SRE principles and culture change initiatives.
