Senior Ruby Software Engineer

About the role

SoftSwiss is hiring a Senior Ruby Software Engineer to join its Data Quality Platform team. The team builds and operates a high‑load platform that runs millions of data‑quality checks each day, helping internal teams detect, investigate and resolve data issues.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core architecture of a high‑load data‑quality platform, improving throughput, latency and reliability.
• Profile and optimise PostgreSQL‑heavy workloads, handling up to ~4,000 requests per second.
• Lead migration of statistical and analytical workloads from PostgreSQL to ClickHouse.
• Develop and maintain backend services for orchestration, scheduling, dependency resolution and mutation‑driven reruns.
• Own production behaviour of services, including incident investigation, performance analysis and observability improvements.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation and support integrations across the company.

Required profile

• Strong Ruby and Ruby on Rails expertise.
• Deep experience with high‑load production systems and PostgreSQL performance tuning.
• Proficiency in SQL and complex data discrepancy investigations.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, background jobs, queues, retries and idempotency.
• Hands‑on ownership of production metrics, logs, tracing and incident response.
• Ability to use AI‑assisted developer tools for rapid prototyping and debugging.
• Intermediate English and Russian language skills (B1+).
