Senior Legal Counsel, Compliance & Regulatory

About the role

Volue is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to design and implement its Group compliance framework from the ground up. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will work across the organisation, including Quality, Information Security, Finance, Product and Commercial teams, to ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical and data‑protection requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain a Group compliance framework covering ethics, governance, risk assessment, controls, monitoring and training.
• Lead legal and regulatory compliance for REMIT‑regulated activities and advise on energy and trading regulations.
• Support the AI governance programme and advise on the EU AI Act, NIS2, cybersecurity and operational resilience.
• Manage anti‑bribery, sanctions, competition, whistleblowing, KYB due diligence and ESG supply‑chain requirements.
• Oversee GDPR compliance, privacy‑by‑design, data‑protection impact assessments and international data transfers.
• Engage with regulators and advise on compliance aspects of contracts, tenders, market entry, product launches and M&A.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a European jurisdiction with 10+ years post‑qualification experience, including substantial compliance and regulatory work in an international setting.
• Proven track record designing and leading compliance programmes with strong commercial judgement.
• Experience with technology businesses (software, SaaS, cloud) and understanding of energy‑trading regulation (REMIT), AI, cybersecurity (EU AI Act, NIS2) and GDPR.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills at senior leadership level and ability to travel internationally.
