Senior Java Software Engineer - Financial Markets

About the role

ING Hubs Poland is hiring a Senior Java Software Engineer for its Financial Markets team in Katowice. The engineer works on derivative products across equities, commodities and interest rates, contributing to platforms that automate the full trading lifecycle, from client quote requests to pricing, booking and risk management, in highly dynamic, real-time environments. The team builds systems used daily by sales teams, traders and risk managers across global hubs in London, Amsterdam, Brussels, New York and Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend services and expose them via modern REST APIs.
• Improve architecture, scalability and infrastructure, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Enhance performance, reliability and resilience of production systems.
• Work closely with business experts, traders and quants to deliver complex features.
• Promote high-quality engineering practices such as automated testing.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues proactively to ensure long-term stability.

Required profile

• MSc in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade software.
• Knowledge of equity derivatives or trading concepts, and experience in financial markets or fintech environments.
• Proven ability to build modular, testable and maintainable systems.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
• Good command of English, written and spoken.
• Readiness to travel to Belgium.
