Principal Software Engineer – AI

About the role

Snowflake is building the next generation of the agentic enterprise and is looking for AI‑native thinkers to join its AI team. As a Principal Software Engineer you will help shape the AI Functions product, a core feature of the Cortex Platform that enables customers to build AI‑driven ETL pipelines across all data.

Key responsibilities

• Build a customer‑facing AI Functions portfolio of products.
• Design and implement highly scalable distributed platforms within the global Snowflake platform.
• Participate in decision‑making on technical and business issues.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to deliver cross‑functional initiatives.
• Ensure operational readiness, reliability, availability and performance of the services.

Required profile

• 14+ years of experience designing, building and supporting large‑scale production systems.
• Passionate about AI/ML and NLP.
• Deep appreciation for building end‑to‑end customer‑facing products.
• Strong CS fundamentals with proficiency in data structures, algorithms and distributed systems (Python or Java preferred).
• Knowledge of C, C++, Go is a plus.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams and product managers.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field.
