Principal Embedded C/C++ Engineer

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SERVICES SP. Z O.O. is looking for a Principal Embedded C/C++ Engineer in Krakow. The engineer designs, develops and optimises software running on embedded systems with constrained resources such as microcontrollers, real-time processors and custom hardware platforms, combining strong C/C++ expertise with deep knowledge of hardware, real-time constraints, low-level debugging and system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain embedded software using modern C/C++
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers, embedded Linux systems or RTOS-based platforms
• Debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD tools and software debuggers
• Write robust, maintainable and testable code following best practices and coding standards
• Integrate with real-time operating systems or bare-metal environments
• Work closely with hardware engineers to understand schematics, interfaces and constraints

Required profile

• Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, memory models and low-level programming, shown through at least 10 years of professional experience in embedded software development
• Experience with openWRT
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Strong debugging skills across hardware and software layers
• Knowledge of build systems and toolchains
• Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash)
