Legal Counsel - Renewable Energy Projects, Poland

About the role

Uniper is looking for a Legal Counsel to advise its Renewables business on all legal matters relating to the development, acquisition, construction and operation of renewable energy projects in Poland, with a focus on solar, onshore wind and battery energy storage systems. The role is interdisciplinary and acts as the first point of contact for legal advice on Polish renewables projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on the existing renewables project pipeline across the entire project lifecycle, including corporate law and greenfield origination.
• Steer legal due diligence, draft and negotiate commercial contracts and project documentation with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
• Advise development and acquisition teams on Polish permitting and environmental law for solar, onshore wind and battery projects.
• Work closely with lawyers in the German headquarters and other Uniper Group departments for strategic legal support.
• Select and manage external law firms, including quality and cost management.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the Polish renewables sector and advise the business on their impact and implementation.

Required profile

• Law degree with strong academic credentials and full professional legal qualification.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in an international law firm or company, preferably in renewables or energy.
• Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including acquisitions, disposals, project negotiations and construction agreements (EPC, EPCM, O&M).
• Strong knowledge of the Polish legal and regulatory framework for renewable energy projects, including authorization, environmental assessment, planning, grid and land matters.
• Polish C2 level and business-fluent English.
