Engineering Manager – Cloud Computing (Remote, EMEA)

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Compute Team responsible for the core compute platform that powers all backend services. The role combines people leadership with hands‑on development, guiding architecture and delivering reliable, scalable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a high‑performing team of ~8 engineers focused on compute and platform engineering.
• Define and drive architectural direction for the compute platform with emphasis on reliability, scalability and developer experience.
• Contribute hands‑on to design, implementation and optimisation of core compute services such as orchestration, provisioning, scaling and runtimes.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security and Backend teams to set priorities and ensure smooth integrations.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and technical coaching while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership or engineering‑management role.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Proven track record building distributed backend systems using Golang.
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD automation and observability of large‑scale platforms.
