Data Engineer with Snowflake

About the role

Aviva is hiring a Data Engineer with Snowflake for its Services Excellence Centre in Warsaw. The project is growing and the team needs someone who can design, develop and optimise scalable data pipelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise scalable data pipelines using Snowflake and modern data stack tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Implement best practices for data modelling, performance tuning and cost-efficient architecture in Snowflake.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable and secure solutions.
• Ensure data quality, reliability and security across the data lifecycle.
• Automate data workflows and integrate diverse data sources into Snowflake.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline issues to keep them highly available and performant.

Required profile

• Approximately 2-3 years of experience in a relevant role.
• Fluent English.
• Nice to have: knowledge of Apache Airflow, Snowpark, DBT, and Snowflake certifications.

Required skills

• Snowflake scripting: stored procedures (PLSQL or Python), user-defined functions, common table expressions, window functions.
• ETL / ELT and Snowflake architecture, including data sharing, replication, masking policies, secure views, row access policies, tags, streams, tasks, external tables, time travel, cloning, storage integrations, stages, clustering and role-based access control.
• File formats such as Parquet, JSON and YAML.
• Git: branches, cloning repositories, pull requests, conflict resolution and code reviews.
• Azure DevOps and/or AWS services (AWS Glue experience preferred).
• Software engineering best practices: design patterns, testing and documentation.
