Senior Software Engineer (Python)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep Python expertise to join our Delivery Optimization Engine project for a leading European e‑commerce platform. You will help design and scale high‑throughput backend services that power first‑ and last‑mile logistics, using modern cloud‑native and geospatial technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python micro‑services that implement routing and spatial optimisation algorithms.
• Integrate commercial and open‑source routing engines (e.g., Google, HERE) into the Delivery Optimization Engine.
• Build and operate data pipelines on Google Cloud (BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer/Airflow) to process large volumes of geospatial data.
• Deploy and manage services on Kubernetes using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, data and DevOps teams to ensure reliability, performance and scalability.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of commercial backend development experience with Python and SQL.
• Strong understanding of logistics, network analysis and routing concepts such as graph theory and vehicle routing problems.
• Experience with geospatial data handling, spatial indexing (e.g., H3) and databases like PostGIS.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services and modern infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow).
• Commitment to engineering excellence, clean code, test‑driven development and continuous integration.
