Senior QA Automation Engineer (AQA/SDET)

About the role

Crystal Intelligence is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to lead the design and maintenance of automated testing for backend, API and data‑intensive systems in the blockchain space. The role is fully remote within Europe and combines hands‑on test development with technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated tests for backend, API and frontend services, covering integration, contract and data validation.
• Create robust test coverage for edge cases such as missing or delayed data and incorrect calculations.
• Analyze failed tests and production‑like issues using logs, metrics and monitoring dashboards.
• Conduct code reviews and champion new testing architectures or frameworks.
• Define long‑term testing strategy, prioritize efforts based on business risk and delivery timelines.
• Identify process improvements and drive adoption of QA best practices.
• Evaluate and integrate AI‑assisted tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, n8n) into QA workflows.
• Collaborate with developers, stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to improve testability, observability and reliability.
• Maintain clear test documentation, coverage notes and defect reports.

Required profile

• 5+ years of AQA/SDET experience with complex backend, API or distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns and their application in test frameworks.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL expertise, including advanced queries and data validation.
• Proficient Java programming for test automation.
• Hands‑on experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Postman, REST‑assured and Allure.
• Experience with Git and Agile/Scrum delivery processes.
• Practical use of AI‑assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude) and AI no‑code platforms (n8n).
• Fluent English communication skills.
