Senior Engineer, Backend - Orchestration

About the role

Primer is building a unified infrastructure for global payments. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will lead the design and implementation of core backend services for high‑performance, complex distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of core backend services for high‑performance, complex distributed systems.
• Own key technology decisions, build for scale and optimise output.
• Drive modern development practices such as BDD and TDD.
• Create clear, modern, well‑tested code and detailed internal documentation.
• Collaborate across teams in a product‑driven environment and conduct code reviews.

Required profile

• In‑depth understanding of the full development process (design, development and deployment).
• Experience building developer frameworks and workflows for seamless integration.
• Motivated self‑starter who values autonomy and getting things done.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Payments knowledge and focus on optimizing merchant developer experience.
