Engineering Manager – Remote (EMEA)

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Compute Team that builds and operates the core compute platform powering all backend services. The role is fully remote within European time zones and combines people leadership with hands‑on development of production‑grade code.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of ~8 engineers focused on compute and platform engineering.
• Define and drive architectural direction for the compute platform, emphasizing reliability, scalability and developer experience.
• Contribute hands‑on to design, implement and optimise core compute services such as orchestration, provisioning, scaling and runtimes.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security and Backend teams to set priorities and ensure smooth integrations.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and technical coaching, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership or engineering‑management role.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Proven track record building distributed backend systems using Golang.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerisation and service‑mesh technologies (Istio, Envoy).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
