Python Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Python Engineer to join a long‑term product collaboration with a European investment firm that manages multi‑billion‑euro assets and is investing in AI‑driven innovation. The role is based in Warsaw and will involve building and maintaining AI‑powered internal platforms, decision‑automation workflows and data‑centric services that support analysts, portfolio managers and risk experts.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend APIs using Python and AWS Lambda.
• Develop and manage OpenAPI specifications for all serverless APIs.
• Build and maintain data models and schema migrations with PostgreSQL on AWS RDS.
• Set up and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform.
• Orchestrate workflows with AWS Step Functions.
• Collaborate with DevOps to establish CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
• Utilize Amazon S3 for storing and serving assets and data.
• Monitor production systems and provide ongoing production support.
• Apply best practices in version control, testing, and security.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural planning, and agile team ceremonies.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Python 3.
• Experience building APIs with Flask or a similar Python web framework.
• Experience developing serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
• Experience with AWS Step Functions for workflow orchestration.
• Familiarity with API Gateway and/or Application Load Balancer for routing.
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, with experience deploying to AWS RDS.
• Knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger for API contracts and documentation.
• Experience with GitLab and Git workflows for version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of Amazon S3 use cases in web applications.
• Comfortable working in agile environments and taking initiative to solve problems.
