Senior Python Developer & Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a senior Python developer to lead the creation of a new data and application platform for an investment‑banking client. The team values clean code, agile practices, and high‑quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back‑end services and APIs using Python.
• Build and optimise data pipelines and workloads on Databricks.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and release processes in Azure DevOps.
• Guide architecture decisions, mentor developers, and conduct code reviews.
• Define and consume RESTful APIs, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests.
• Participate in Scrum/Kanban ceremonies and collaborate with QA, product managers, and architects.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands‑on Python skills and experience with PySpark and distributed data processing.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines.
• Experience with Databricks, Oracle (SQL, performance tuning), and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Familiarity with batch scheduling tools such as Autosys.
• Background in Java or C# development is a plus.
