Senior Internal Controls Consultant (German-speaking)

About the role

PwC's MSO Internal Control Testing team in Warsaw is looking for a Senior Consultant fluent in German. The team verifies the effectiveness of internal controls from a business and IT perspective, identifies and manages business and IT risks for clients worldwide, and works on projects covering process optimization and IT system reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver internal controls activities, including design effectiveness assessments, walkthroughs and operating effectiveness testing of business and IT controls.
• Support internal controls projects and workstreams, collaborating with PwC teams across territories and contributing to international engagements.
• Act as a senior team member, coordinating tasks, sharing knowledge and collaborating in multi-location teams.
• Serve as a key point of contact for client stakeholders, communicating in German and English, presenting testing results and discussing risks and controls.
• Support remediation and deficiency management, helping clients strengthen their governance, risk and control environment.
• Identify process improvement opportunities, including automation and technology-enabled solutions, and contribute to business development, proposals and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• At least 4-5 years of experience in risk management, internal control testing, SOX or internal audit.
• Fluency in German and English (minimum C1), with strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of internal control frameworks, SOX requirements, risk management principles and internal audit best practices.
• Nice to have: practical experience in SOX testing, internal controls reviews or internal audit in an international setting; certifications such as CIA, CISA or CRISC; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle); familiarity with data analytics, automation tools or AI-supported testing.
