R&D Electrical Engineer - Power Transformers (Short Circuit)

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY POLAND is looking for a design platform's domain expert to join its transformer design platform team in Lodz. The role bridges the gap between the R&D teams and end-users, making sure software solutions meet high standards of quality and usability. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Propose and develop new technologies, products and processes for core-type transformers.
• Lead and manage R&D projects independently, on time, on budget and to the required quality, following Hitachi Energy's internal standards and processes.
• Maintain and develop technical standards and design tools for transformers.
• Share knowledge through reports, specifications and participation in training programmes.
• Assess production processes, identify gaps and support factory troubleshooting in the domain of expertise.
• Help platform developers create technical specifications and build relationships with stakeholders, corporate research centres and external partners, proposing possible partnerships.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in the power transformer industry; mechanical engineers with 5+ years in power transformer design are also considered.
• Good experience in power transformer design, testing and manufacturing.
• Excellent verbal and written English to explain technical concepts to stakeholders.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of short-circuit physics in power transformers.
• Good use of finite-element electromagnetic analysis programs.
• Experience with calculation and verification software used in engineering design.
• Knowledge of one or more programming languages (C#, C++, Python) and basic 3D mechanical drawing (CREO) are a plus.
• Basic knowledge of structural calculations and material properties is a plus.
