IS Infrastructure Monitoring Expert

About the role

ABB is looking for an IS Infrastructure Monitoring Expert in Krakow, reporting to the IS CEX Infrastructure & Network Monitoring team. The role delivers holistic monitoring capabilities by gathering and analysing operational status information, with a focus on user experience and productivity. It works closely with internal IS Observability teams, Domain Hosting teams and Business Areas to define, configure and implement metrics and monitoring solutions, and is accountable for proactive and efficient monitoring and alerting across complex infrastructure environments. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise infrastructure monitoring and observability solutions.
• Configure and maintain monitoring platforms, metrics, dashboards and alerting mechanisms.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application and business stakeholders to ensure effective monitoring coverage.
• Analyse monitoring effectiveness and drive automation, standardisation and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical expertise, consultation and governance for infrastructure monitoring services.
• Maintain monitoring standards, documentation and compliance with organisational policies.
• Engage with stakeholders and suppliers to improve services and operational visibility.
• Improve system reliability, performance and user experience.

Required profile

• Expertise in IT infrastructure technologies such as OS, storage, virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V), databases and backup solutions.
• Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring solutions in a distributed setup.
• Cloud monitoring expertise (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
• Good communication skills, as the audience is spread globally.

Required skills

• Monitoring via SNMP polling/traps, logs and APIs.
• Troubleshooting of monitor and service check setups.
• Scripting: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Basic working knowledge of AIOps platforms (Moogsoft / APEX, BigPanda, ServiceNow).
