Data Engineer

About the role

Appsilon is looking for a Data Engineer to help global organisations turn massive data sets into actionable insights. You will design, build and maintain modern data pipelines that support cutting‑edge biotech and life‑science projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across diverse environments.
• Integrate data from internal systems, external APIs and streaming sources into data warehouses or data lakes.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, ML Engineers and developers to ensure data quality, structure and availability.
• Monitor pipeline performance, improve data integrity and optimise reliability.
• Build and optimise database schemas, data models and accompanying documentation.
• Implement data‑governance, security best practices and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Strong backend Python development experience, comfortable with modern language features and API frameworks such as FastAPI, Django REST Framework or Flask.
• Hands‑on experience designing and operating ETL/ELT pipelines and solid SQL skills.
• Ability to model, optimise and maintain complex database structures.
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs and streaming platforms.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross‑functional international teams.
