Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer – Remote Freelance

About the role

We are looking for a senior embedded/firmware engineer who can move seamlessly between reading schematics and writing production‑grade C code. The position is freelance, time‑and‑material, fully remote, with a path to a permanent contract based on performance and project pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and ship firmware for connected devices such as wearables, audio, and health‑tech hardware.
• Gather client requirements and translate them into functional firmware on real silicon.
• Consult clients and internal teams on stacks, tools, and trade‑offs.
• Collaborate with mobile, backend, and QA teams to ensure seamless BLE communication.
• Test releases, write documentation, and estimate work while flagging risks early.
• Promote best practices: code reviews, design patterns, and knowledge sharing.
• Integrate AI tools into daily development workflow.

Required profile

• Senior‑level embedded engineer comfortable with schematics and C programming.
• Hands‑on experience with ESP32 or STM32 platforms.
• Curious, self‑directed, and willing to question assumptions.
• Enjoys tackling hardware‑related bugs and low‑level performance challenges.
