System Engineer – Global Infrastructure

About the role

Join Bosch's global infrastructure team to manage and evolve a large‑scale enterprise compute and virtualization platform. You will be responsible for the stability, performance, security and continuous improvement of mission‑critical Linux and VMware environments across EMEA, APAC and the Americas.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and enhance global VMware vSphere/vSAN clusters and the 3rd‑level engineering support model.
• Manage the lifecycle of enterprise Linux (Ubuntu/Debian, RHEL) on thousands of physical and virtual servers.
• Develop Ansible playbooks, scripts and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments, hardening and capacity management.
• Oversee x86 server hardware portfolio, work with vendors (e.g., HPE) on procurement, evaluation and firmware lifecycle.
• Design, maintain and optimise software‑defined storage (vSAN) and enterprise SAN/NAS integrations.
• Act as escalation point for complex hardware, hypervisor, OS and storage issues, performing root‑cause analysis.
• Implement security hardening, integrate Linux with AD, PAM and Kerberos, and address vulnerability findings.
• Expand monitoring and observability using Grafana, Nagios and Icinga.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with large‑scale VMware vSphere/vCenter and vSAN environments.
• Deep expertise in enterprise Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu/Debian) including LVM, multipathing and directory integration.
• Practical knowledge of x86 server hardware, remote management tools (HPE iLO/OneView) and lifecycle processes.
• Proven automation skills with Ansible, Bash or Python scripting.
• Fluent English communication skills.
