Staff Engineer, Imunify360 (Remote)
Cloudlinux · Warsaw
Job description
About the role
CloudLinux is a remote-first company delivering Linux infrastructure and security products. It is hiring Staff Engineers for the Imunify360 product, a multi-layer security suite for Linux web servers (antivirus, WAF, IDS/IPS, patch management, reputation) used on hundreds of thousands of shared, VPS and dedicated hosting servers. This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management, about 30-50% of time spent writing production code, fully remote.
Key responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of Imunify360 (agent, server, cloud backends, data flows) and write and drive ADRs and RFCs for cross-squad changes.
- Maintain a living tech-debt and risk register (security, compliance, uptime) and fund the top items on the roadmap.
- Handle hard cross-cutting problems such as agent resource budgets, detection pipeline quality, upgrade and release safety, and backend scale and cost.
- Set engineering standards for design reviews, code review, testing, observability (Prometheus/Grafana/Sentry) and secure SDLC (OWASP ASVS, CIS Benchmarks).
- Lead or co-lead SEV1/SEV2 incidents and ensure post-mortems ship within 24 hours; mentor senior engineers and act as the engineering voice in product and sales discussions.
Required profile
- 10+ years building and operating production software, with 3+ years in a Staff/Principal/Tech Lead scope across several teams.
- Strong production experience in Python and at least one of Go or Rust.
- Deep Linux internals: processes, filesystems, networking, kernel interfaces (inotify/fanotify, eBPF), packaging (RPM/DEB), systemd.
- Track record of distributed systems at scale and of systems running on customer machines.
- Security mindset: threat modeling, secure coding, handling untrusted input.
- Writes clear technical documents and works in async, remote teams across time zones; uses AI coding tools daily.
Nice to have
- Server security experience (AV/malware detection, WAF, IDS/IPS, CVE/patch management).
- WordPress and Node.js hosting at scale, ML in production, observability stacks, CI/CD (GitLab CI, Jenkins), open-source contributions.
What we offer
- Fully remote work with flexible hours.
- 24 paid vacation days, 10 national holidays and unlimited sick leave.
- Private medical insurance compensation, co-working and gym/sports reimbursement, education budget.
- Possibility of a reward for innovative ideas that can be patented.
