Software Engineer (Java)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer specialized in Java to join our Mélange team at StepStone Group’s Tech Hub in Warsaw. You will help build, scale and operate backend services that turn unstructured job and CV data into structured signals used across our marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Python.
• Implement event‑driven data pipelines based on Kafka.
• Own services end‑to‑end: design, testing, deployment, monitoring and iteration.
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure high code quality.
• Collaborate with software engineers, ML engineers and product managers in a distributed, international team.

Required profile

• Write clean, testable backend code in Java and/or Python.
• Comfortable with distributed systems and event‑driven architectures, or eager to learn.
• Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle.
• Value code quality and automated testing.
• Pragmatic mindset focused on delivering working solutions.
