Senior Internal Control Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Internal Control Specialist to continuously monitor, test, and improve the internal control framework across our group. The role safeguards the integrity of financial reporting and operational processes while ensuring compliance and risk mitigation throughout the organization. You will report to the Manager Group Control and work closely with local Managing Directors, Finance Directors and Department heads.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular testing and monitoring of the internal control framework to ensure design and operational effectiveness.
• Assess and report on the effectiveness of controls related to financial reporting, business operations, and compliance.
• Identify control deficiencies and collaborate with local and group‑level stakeholders to ensure timely remediation.
• Support and coordinate periodic internal control assessments and risk‑based audit planning.
• Collaborate with external auditors and manage requests related to internal controls.
• Prepare clear reports and dashboards for senior management and the audit committee.
• Recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and optimise risk management processes.
• Stay up to date with best practices, internal audit methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to business owners to raise awareness of risk and control objectives.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in internal audit, internal control or risk management within a multinational company or Big 4 audit firm.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of internal control and risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO).
• Experience using technology to support audit and control processes, such as automation and data analytics.
