Platform Engineer, APIs & Observability

About the role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer focused on APIs and observability to own our public API and the analytics that make autonomous agents understandable. This high‑leverage, highly visible role will shape the contract that every integration depends on and build tracing and reporting for multi‑model agent runs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, version, and evolve the public API and SDKs used by StackAI customers.
• Define API standards, versioning, deprecation policies, and review criteria to keep the platform consistent.
• Build tracing and instrumentation that allow end‑to‑end visibility of multi‑step, multi‑model agent runs.
• Create analytics and reporting on agent performance, cost, and improvement opportunities.
• Implement audit logging and team‑scoped views for enterprise customers.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience building backend services and public APIs in production.
• Strong API craft, including RESTful design, SDK ergonomics, and rate‑limiting.
• Fluent with OpenAPI and API governance (versioning, deprecation, consistency).
• Experience with observability and analytics: distributed tracing, metrics, and turning raw signals into data products.
• Proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks (FastAPI or similar) and comfort with TypeScript/Node.js on product surfaces.
