Freelance DevOps Engineer – Enterprise Application Deployment

About the role

PwC’s Public Sector practice is seeking an experienced freelance DevOps Engineer to support the ICT team in deploying, integrating, maintaining, and monitoring critical enterprise applications for European institutions. You will work in an international environment, ensuring the stability and performance of mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support application build, integration, and deployment for backend systems and client devices (mobile and PC).
• Manage, configure, and maintain system environments, including Microsoft Azure.
• Assist project teams during system testing and ensure technical readiness of environments.
• Monitor daily system functionality, performance, availability, and overall health.
• Report, coordinate, and follow up on technical issues related to applications and environments.
• Act as primary technical liaison between Frontex ICT and external vendors or contractors.
• Provide technical support for deployment and configuration of development environments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of deployment processes and operational support activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Excellent understanding of software deployment processes and release management.
• Knowledge of RUP and/or Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with application server technologies.
• Experience with build and deployment tools such as Ant and Azure Pipelines.
• Understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
• Advanced knowledge of SharePoint and related tools.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in an international, multicultural environment.
• Previous experience with European institutions or public‑sector projects is a plus.
