Customs Specialist (Export)

About the role

The Customs Specialist (Export) ensures compliant, efficient and timely execution of all customs‑related processes for export operations. You will prepare and verify customs declarations, coordinate with customers, authorities and internal teams, and guarantee transparent customs clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare export customs declarations for shipments from the EU using the ATLAS system.
• Handle all required customs documentation and ensure compliance with customs and tax regulations.
• Execute formal customs procedures for exports, including port registrations for Hamburg ZAPP, PORTBASE, BHT, WHT, and APCS.
• Prepare preferential trade documents such as T2L/F, ATR, EUR.1 and similar certificates.
• Respond to customer inquiries on customs matters and maintain a service‑oriented approach.
• Coordinate with customs authorities and internal departments, documenting all clearance activities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of customs law and export procedures, able to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Excellent communication skills in German and English for interaction with authorities, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Proactive problem‑solver capable of handling irregularities in customs processes.

Required skills

• ATLAS customs declaration system.
• PORTBASE, BHT, WHT, APCS port registration platforms.
• Preparation of preferential trade documents (T2L/F, ATR, EUR.1).
