Category Buyer - Indirect Procurement (Strategic Sourcing)

About the role

BASF Polska is looking for a Category Buyer for indirect procurement (strategic sourcing) who will act as the main point of contact for all procurement matters and meet the purchasing needs of technical goods and services. The role is temporary and based in Poland, with a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Execute category strategies locally and align them with global procurement objectives
• Understand internal Business Partner requirements and ensure a reliable, competitive and sustainable supply of indirect goods and services
• Lead local sourcing activities, including tenders, negotiations, contract awards and local contract implementation
• Act as the key procurement contact for internal Business Partners
• Collaborate with business, operations and global category managers to align local requirements with strategic sourcing initiatives
• Build and maintain relationships with local suppliers, monitor their performance and use market intelligence to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through bundling, standardisation and other procurement measures
• Create and monitor purchase orders in SAP/S/4HANA and support S2C and P2P activities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Business, Engineering or a related field
• Relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, contract management or a related field
• Knowledge of tendering, supplier management, negotiations and cost analysis
• Native-level Polish and fluent English
• Availability for occasional travel within Europe

Required skills

• Practical experience with SAP or SAP S/4HANA
• Very good Microsoft Office skills
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation and analytical skills
