Backend Engineer – FinTech Compliance & Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a leading FinTech client. The role sits at the intersection of technology, compliance, and data, focusing on building and modernising systems that automate regulatory processes such as compliance control, due diligence, and legal automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable micro‑services that ensure regulatory compliance and automate legal workflows.
• Maintain data integrity across large financial datasets and complex data pipelines.
• Lead modernization efforts, refactor legacy code, and migrate to a distributed, event‑driven architecture.
• Replace manual operations with event‑driven automation using Kafka and integrate third‑party providers like Verdata and Salesforce.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and engineering teams to translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong ownership mindset with a focus on quality and business impact.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Java or Kotlin in production environments.
• Design of scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS and cloud‑based infrastructure.
• SQL and relational database expertise.
• Python programming.
• Event‑driven architecture and Kafka.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Spark, or DBT is a plus.
• Experience with FinTech, banking, or regulatory domains is advantageous.
