Senior Backend Engineer (.NET/Azure)

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY POLAND is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer in Lodz. The team builds and evolves engineering platforms that support software development across the organization, combining application development, technical problem solving and continuous improvement of engineering practices. The role contributes to solutions used by development teams worldwide, working closely with engineers, architects and product stakeholders to influence technical decisions and drive modernization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop applications using C# and modern .NET
• Build scalable backend services and REST APIs
• Define software architecture, engineering standards and development practices
• Design secure, maintainable and resilient software solutions
• Implement integrations with enterprise platforms and services
• Influence technology choices and architectural decisions
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation within Azure DevOps
• Develop cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure
• Improve observability with Application Insights, OpenTelemetry and Grafana
• Strengthen reliability through monitoring, diagnostics and operational practices
• Embed quality and testability in solution design and development
• Explore Azure OpenAI and Semantic Kernel for engineering applications

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience building enterprise-grade applications and backend services
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs and enterprise integrations
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps
• Confident communication skills in English
• Interest in intelligent assistants, agent-based capabilities and automation is an advantage
