R&D Power Electronics Engineer - HVDC (Regular Experience)

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY is looking for an R&D Power Electronics Engineer in its Technology Center in Krakow, Poland, to join the Valve Electronics team within the Modular Advanced Control for HVDC (MACH) programme. The role is full-time, onsite, and sits in a modern office near central station with a brand-new on-site laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain MACH products in the Valve Electronics domain, improving their reliability and robustness
• Contribute to the full lifecycle of the hardware platform for the Control & Protection system, from requirements and simulation through prototyping, testing to release and sustaining production
• Take part in technical reviews and project planning
• Share expertise and improve documentation, design and testing infrastructure

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field
• At least 2 years of professional analogue circuit board design experience, including design quality and reliability (DFMEA, MTBF) and tools such as SPICE, Altium, Zuken CADSTAR or PADS
• Power electronics experience with industry-proven topologies, modern semiconductors and magnetics, design for 1 kV and above
• Understanding of EMC principles, power integrity and management
• Experience with laboratory test and measurement equipment, PCB testing and reworking, and metrology fundamentals
• Understanding of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes (PCB, PCBA, DFM)
• Intermediate (B2) English
