Learning Support Teacher

About the role

The Learning Support Teacher provides individualized assistance to students with learning difficulties or special educational needs (SEN) at Akademeia High School. Working closely with classroom teachers and the support team, the role ensures inclusive learning environments and appropriate exam accommodations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess students to identify specific learning needs and develop personalized learning plans.
• Deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, study skills, and exam preparation.
• Adapt teaching materials to suit diverse learning styles and monitor academic progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and wellbeing staff to coordinate support strategies.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about progress and home support.

Required profile

• Teaching certification and at least two years of relevant experience.
• University degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology or related field.
• Experience supporting learners with dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum, anxiety, sensory needs, or other learning differences.
• Familiarity with evidence‑based interventions for literacy, numeracy and executive functioning.
• Fluency in English and strong collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of British secondary curriculum (preferred).
• Ability to design and implement individualized learning plans.
