Junior System Administrator – IT Operations

About the role

The Junior System Administrator supports daily operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure under IT OPS supervision. The role focuses on standard administrative tasks, handling low‑ to medium‑complexity incidents and changes, and building independence while ensuring stability, security, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform standard administrative tasks on Linux and Windows systems following established procedures.
• Maintain Linux systems and basic infrastructure services in test and production environments.
• Handle low‑ or medium‑complexity incidents and changes within defined timelines.
• Monitor environments, perform initial alert analysis, and escalate when deeper diagnostics are needed.
• Support virtualization, container services, web services, and basic network components.
• Participate in planned maintenance activities such as updates, restarts, and patching.
• Assist with OS, service, and tool updates, including security patching.
• Analyze system and application logs at a basic level and prepare materials for further diagnostics.
• Support account and access management, including permissions, firewalls, and basic security tasks.
• Create and maintain simple scripts and automations to reduce repetitive manual work.

Required profile

• High School Technical Diploma or higher education in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Electronics, Automation or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, helpdesk or a similar technical role.

Required skills

• Linux systems (preferably Debian‑based) and command‑line administration.
• Bash scripting fundamentals.
• Basic Windows Server administration.
• SSH and administrative console usage.
• Understanding of system logs, server services, and system processes.
• Monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana).
• Firewall administration (iptables, Fortinet/FortiGate).
• Exposure to virtualization and container platforms.
• Basic knowledge of Ansible for automation.
• Fundamental networking and security concepts.
