Data Engineering Manager

About the role

PwC Poland’s Digital&IPA team is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead both business development and hands‑on delivery of data‑driven solutions for clients across banking, insurance and retail. The role combines leadership, pre‑sales support and technical architecture on Azure‑based data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Drive business development and pre‑sales activities, including client meetings, solution scoping, estimations and proposal writing.
• Collaborate with AI Engineering, Software Development and Cloud teams to create integrated, cross‑domain offerings.
• Co‑create and evolve the “Data for AI” proposition, delivering data foundations for GenAI, agentic systems and ML use cases.
• Act as Data Architect, Tech Lead or SME on client engagements, designing end‑to‑end cloud data platforms on Azure.
• Guide and mentor team members, review architectural decisions and code, and maintain communication with senior client stakeholders.
• Contribute to thought leadership through internal knowledge sharing, conference talks, articles and workshops.
• Support recruitment and growth of the Data Engineering practice.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in data engineering, including senior, lead or architect roles.
• Proven client‑facing and pre‑sales experience (scoping, estimations, proposals, solution presentations).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English (C1) and Polish for internal communication.
• Familiarity with Scrum or other agile project‑management methodologies.
