Team Manager – HR Operations (German)

About the role

As a Team Manager – HR Operations you will lead an HR operations team responsible for delivering accurate, timely and compliant payroll services. You will combine deep payroll expertise with strong people leadership, ensuring high‑quality service while driving continuous improvement and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HR Operations team to meet contract scope and SLA requirements.
• Ensure accurate payroll processing, including salary calculations, deductions and tax withholdings.
• Guarantee compliance with legal, tax, social security and internal regulations.
• Review and approve payroll results to meet quality and deadline standards.
• Define team objectives, KPIs and individual development plans.
• Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews and 1:1 coaching.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during payroll audits.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Analyse payroll data to detect and resolve errors or discrepancies.
• Manage vendors and act as escalation point for external partners.
• Organise and support testing activities related to system changes.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of solid payroll experience, preferably in outsourced or shared‑service environments.
• Proven people‑leadership experience, including coaching, team development and performance management.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, tax and social security regulations.
• Confident handling of payroll audits and compliance checks.
• Fluent German language skills.
