Software Engineer (Enterprise Experience, Backend)

About the role

As a Backend Engineer on Coder’s Enterprise Experience team, you will create and ship features that enable large organisations to run Coder in production with confidence. The team owns the operator experience, covering scalability, upgrades, reliability, observability, audit, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and roll out end‑to‑end backend features.
• Write database migrations that ensure schema compatibility and safe upgrades.
• Develop observability, reporting and audit capabilities for administrators.
• Implement security features following the team’s best practices.
• Investigate and resolve scalability bottlenecks under production‑like load.
• Troubleshoot backend issues reported by operators and administrators.
• Document new features for future engineers.
• Participate in code reviews, RFC‑style design discussions and on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience writing and shipping Go code.
• Solid understanding of Go concurrency (goroutines, channels, sync).
• Comfortable working with SQL and database schema migrations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective debugging abilities and willingness to escalate when needed.
• Self‑motivated, analytical mindset and enjoyment of challenging technical problems.
