GL Team Leader

About the role

Wilhelmsen is looking for a GL Team Leader to join its Shared Service Center in Szczecin. You will lead a team of accounting professionals, ensuring accurate month‑end and year‑end closings while supporting continuous process improvement across global finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the GL team, set goals, provide feedback, conduct performance reviews and support recruitment.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing activities, guaranteeing compliance with Corporate Accounting Guidelines.
• Oversee knowledge‑transfer and transition projects from local finance offices, ensuring smooth onboarding and operational continuity.
• Monitor team performance, workload distribution and service delivery against SLAs.
• Coach and develop team members through regular 1‑to‑1 meetings and professional development initiatives.
• Identify and drive process‑improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and provide high‑quality customer service.
• Handle issue resolution, escalation processes and ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Support the GL Manager with ad‑hoc tasks and projects.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of accounting experience in an SSC/BPO environment.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a team‑lead or senior coordination role.
• Relevant education in economics, finance or accountancy.
• Strong understanding of GL processes and a proven track record of process improvement.
• Excellent problem‑solving, planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
